Curator of the exhibition 'I Never Promised You a Rose Garden'. This was the 7th edition of Beelden Buiten Biennale.
New commissioned works by David Claerbout (BE), Henrik Häkansson (NO), Rhabah Kalil (PS), Denise Tiavouana (NC) , Els Dietvorst (BE), Anne Maes (BE), Griet Dobbels (BE) and Gu Dexin (CH).
This exhibition was characterized by the way the artists were looking for a specific place within teh context of the garden to create a work that depends on nature and that was determined by organic life. This exhibition is composed as a cycle of life: images degenerate into nature and nature is demarcated in zones of culture. The style oscillates between amusing poetry, the work around the pond by Henrik Hakansson and grotesque provocation, the column of flesh is by Gu Dexin.
